No Distraction: This is the most important decision to take while preparing for the video interview. Light: Try to attend a video interview where you can get bright light. If you are attending an interview during the day time and getting bright sunlight from the window then sit with face towards the window. Bright light on your face and surroundings will give positive feelings during the interview. This will give you more confidence and your interviewer can also see your face clearly. The other alternatives in case you do not have a bright light in your room, you can use a table lamp and place it behind the camera so that the light can focus on your face.

Position of Camera: Try to adjust the position of the camera that it should be at the eye level. You can place a few books under the laptop and adjust the height and it should be level position straight at the eye level. Play around with the distance of the camera from your face and maintain a comfortable distance. The objective is that you should be seated at a distance from the camera at eye level where you are comfortable seeing yourself on the computer screen.

1: Find the best location to attend video calls with adequate lighting and minimum distraction.

2: Place your table and chair in such a way that you will face to the light and your back to the wall.

3: Download the application required for video interviews.

4: Check your camera settings and place your camera to the eye level and maintain a comfortable distance from the camera.

5:  Check the wall or background behind you and keep it plain or decorate with things showcasing your achievements.

6: Check the internet connection, speed and trouble shoot the audio and video input and output.

7: Inform all the members living or using the space, on your interview schedule and do not disturb period.

8: Go to the selected interview location at least 30 minutes ahead of the interview schedule. Close the door to focus on your last leg of preparation.

9:   Check the software, internet connection, speed, and troubleshoot if required. Check the camera setting, lighting, and temperature. Keep the temp around 70F to feel comfortable.

10: Get dressed professionally as if you are attending an in-person interview. Check on the camera and feel comfortable.

11: Take a deep breath and sit ideally for a few minutes before joining the interview.  Be positive and feel relaxed before joining the video interview call.

12: Please log in to the video call 5 minutes ahead of the schedule to avoid any last-minute connection problem with the video conference service provider. You can wait for the interviewers to join the call and smile as soon as you see them on the screen. All love to see a smiley face.
