About Job Hunting Buddy
How it all began
We have seen economic upheaval due to the coronavirus pandemic and past recessions. But the impact of AI is very different from that of other events.
The current AI adoption has disproportionately affected certain professions. The high level of automation and the speed of implementation have adversely impacted white-collar professionals. It is also motivating organizations to adopt AI and Robotics to sustain their competitiveness. Some of the jobs lost during this AI rollout may not return at all.
A recent model created by two professors from Oxford University has predicted a list of professions at risk of automation. They forecasted that workers in logistics, office administration, and certain service industries are at risk of computerization because of the development of big data and pattern recognition.
It means that in the future, we may see fewer opportunities in those professions. This is the reason professionals need to be aware of and prepare for those changes.
There are similarities between industrialization and the implementation of Artificial intelligence in the economy. Industrialization affected employment in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors. Similarly, AI implementation has had a greater impact, especially on those in the back-office and information technology industries, who suffered double-digit employment losses. Other businesses that specialized in health care products experienced an increase in revenues.
We can see the employment implications of Artificial Intelligence. Some professions could suffer employment losses above 50 percent. Others, such as those providing health services and products, may experience an increase in business.
Being experienced IT professionals, we have observed the current situation and felt that workers in those affected industries need to change their profession or upgrade their knowledge to survive and thrive in the times to come. They can use their experience and transferable skills to change to a career with more financial and professional growth prospects.
To help those professionals, we have developed this site to guide them to upgrade their careers.
Our philosophy at Job Hunting Buddy
How many times have we looked for support or encouragement from friends and family while thinking about changing careers? The answer is a lot. Changing a career means shifting yourself from known to the unknown. The chance of success depends on support, guidance, and self-motivation. Even research has proven that successful career changes depend on supporting friends, family, and spouses. But people are scared of changes, and sometimes well-intended friends and family have genuine fear or skepticism about a new career.
Changing a profession or career is not a sprint but a marathon. One needs to come out of the comfort zone and take reasonable risks to move to a new profession. Taking a decision and implementing those decisions are two different things. The majority of people lose motivation to keep their commitment to change jobs. They remain stuck in high-risk jobs.
